Autumn Whisper
Details
character
Wear it your way
A black mini skirt. Strictly speaking, it is here as an alibi.
Straight trousers, heels, earrings. No one needs to know everything.
Worn-in jeans and boots. Autumn will survive.
A silk slip dress. Common sense is occasionally overrated.
Back to front, inside out. A caprice can have many sides.
The Story
You know how to look as though you have thought of everything. The meeting, the weather, other people’s questions, even the glass of wine that will quite accidentally become the second one. A splendid talent. An exhausting one.
Autumn Whisper arrives just as autumn slips out of a respectable landscape and walks into the city. Olive, amber, sand and a touch of plum — apparently, it robbed a very good pâtisserie on the way.
Olive holds the outline and tries to preserve some dignity. The other shades behave more freely: turning sheer, changing places, baring a shoulder, introducing asymmetry where a respectable garment would have drawn a straight line long ago. It is precisely the degree of disorder you can afford without consequences. Apart from compliments, naturally.
Turn it back to front, and the colours begin a different conversation. Inside out, the smooth sections become more textured and the entire idea acquires a pleasant roughness. To change your mind twice in five minutes is a caprice. To do it beautifully is style.
Business remains business. The city keeps its serious face. And you get the autumn that was once asked to behave.
It declined.
