It pushed its way out in large, vivid pink bobbles and stopped only where the black trim began. The result is a tiny venomous dragon — soft, fluffy and suspiciously pleased with itself. Exactly the kind of danger people photograph first, pet second, and only then remember that caution might have been appropriate.
The black base gives all that pink mischief some structure, but not respectability. Which is only right: a respectable dragon would merely be a lizard in an excellent sweater. The large bobbles are knitted from mohair, lightly fluffy, soft to the touch and still able to hold their shape — even when their wearer has already decided to head somewhere firmly against your plans.
If one side has had an unfortunate encounter with something sticky, dusty or irresistibly interesting, the sweater can simply be turned inside out. The bobbles stay exactly where they belong, while the compromised side moves to the inside. The character has not changed — only the evidence has.
The knit is soft, warm, medium-weight and stretches well. The sweater slips on over the head, the short collar sits comfortably at the neck, and the belly stays covered. The length underneath is thoughtfully shortened, so masculine dignity and high fashion can remain on diplomatic terms.
