The Story
Other stars have riders. She has you.
Breakfast is four minutes late, so she is sitting by the bowl and looking at you. She does not ask. That would introduce unnecessary confusion into your relationship. She simply waits for the human to notice the mistake and correct it.
After breakfast, another problem appears: the sofa is occupied. By a human with no ruffles, who for some reason believes that furniture they paid for belongs to them. One look, and the human moves over. Training is progressing slowly, but there are already results.
The pink knit is soft, fluffy, and catches a little light when the star passes the window. The black ruffles stay matte and follow behind: first she appears, then the rest of the splendour arrives. The sweater is snug but not too warm, so nothing interferes with making the rounds, checking the bowl, and returning to the sofa before the newly vacant place is taken again.
Petting is a separate matter. It should begin the moment she approaches. It may stop only after written permission, which, fortunately, nobody here knows how to issue. If the hand is removed too soon, the star moves closer and patiently offers the human another attempt.
People around her smile, call her by name, and reach for their phones. She does not get distracted. She has things to do: cross the room, rearrange everyone simply by appearing, and check once again whether anything new has materialised in the bowl.
By evening, all demands have been met, the ruffles are arranged around her, and the staff finally allow themselves to exhale.
